What is Remy Hair?
Human hair collected directly from a hair donor is Remy Hair. It is sometimes referred to as Virgin, Cuticle Hair and Cut Hair. The majority of human hair sold in the industry is non-cuticle hair. The hair cuticle has been stripped by using an acid-bath. With Remy hair we do not do this so the hair cuticle is intact, therefore the hair is stronger and has the potential to last MUCH longer if properly maintained.
Non-Remy Double Drawn Hair usually has the roots and ends mixed up. However each bundle of hair will have all the same lengths, hence “Double drawn”. Non-Remy Double Drawn Human Hair is hackled and trimmed on both sides. and it will have uniform sizes.
Bleached Hair is prepared from both Single Drawn and Double Drawn, Remy and Non-Remy.
What is Single Drawn Hair?
Every hair piece contains only hair of the same length. This makes this type of hair piece also the most expensive one as this procedure is done by hand, not by machine. For example: a hair piece of 20 inches of Remi quality and double drawn has hair lengths of 20" only.
What do the terms "bulk" and "wefted" mean?
Bulk hair is loose hair that is used for braiding and many other hair extention styles. We deliver it tied in a bundle ready for use. Wefted hair is hair used for weaving. It is sewn or bonded (with hair glue) into a track ready for the weaving process.
What is the difference between Machine Weft and hand tied Weft?
Hand tied wefts are made by tying strands of hair around a strong weaving thread, this process is done by hand. Our hand tied wefts are much thinner than machine wefts because of the precision involved, and lay flat on the scalp. Machine wefts are made by sewing strands of hair together with a hair sewing machine.
What is the best way to cut a weft?
Hand tied wefts should never be cut from the top, this is a common mistake made by even experienced hair stylists. If it is cut, then you should seal it with a good glue like nail glue or fabric glue. There is no guarantee that it will not shed if it is cut. Also, one should never sew through top of the weft and it is recommended you sew around the weft. With machine wefts, you can cut where desired. We cannot stress how important this information is, the main reason for wefts shedding is because the weft is not cut properly.
If you are getting a full Braid Weave the average person need about six ounces of hair some will need more some will need less. It is best to buy two packs to make sure you have enough. You can always use the leftover hair later. if you are using hair over 18" long you might need another pack. If you are getting tracks one pack is enough for four to five tracks up to 18" hair length. If you are getting the hair bonded one pack is enough for four to five tracks up to 18" hair length. If you are getting fusion or micro linking you need to consult your stylist.
What Are Hand Tied Wefts?
Hand tied wefts are done by hand and are much thinner then machine wefts. They will lay flat against your scalp to give you a more natural look and significantly reduce hair bumps caused by bulky wefts . Hand tied wefts come in one long track and the length of the track depends on the length of the hair. All of our wefts are reinforced to prevent shedding.
Yes, this is 100% virgin human hair which is not processed in any way. So you can color the hair. Once virgin hair is treated in any way, it is no longer virgin. Generally it is advised to make any major color changes after having your extensions applied.
What type of hair care products should I use?
Treat this hair like your own hair. Use good quality shampoo and conditioning products. Conditioning your hair is very important to keep it soft and managable, so use leave in conditioners. You can also use products like gel and hair spray to keep the curls in place, but make sure to wash your hair and not leave in these products in for a long time.
You may go in swimming pools and hot tubs. It is best to wash hair right after swimming. Avoid getting hair in salt water as the salt can take all the moisture out of the hair and it will lead to tangling of the hair. Never braid your hair and go in salt water. It is best to wear it down. Add a spray in conditioner after swimming.
